Batam Island is the Indonesia fist classed as a free trade zone and planed as an Indonesia industrial island. Rrom Batam you can escape to Singapore, just need about 40 minutes by fast ferry from Harborbay terminal, 45 minutes Batam Centre terminal or 40 Minutes from Sekupang terminal.

Place to visit one that you don't want to miss is "Galang Vietnamese Refugee Camp". This camp was accommodated as Indochinese refugees from 1979 to 1996 in Galang Island. This camp establish under responsibility of United Nation UNHCR. Mostly of the refuges came to the Indonesia territorial by simply boat and many of them ware drifted ashore by a big wave of south china sea on samewhere about island Natuna, Tarempa, and Anambas of Kepulauan Riau than they were transferred to "Galang Refuges Camp", the Gua Yim Bodhisattva statue at KTM Resort is the biggest standing statue in Batam, Buddhist Temple at Batam Center is known as the biggest temple in Asean, If you are seafood lover Batam also known as seafood paradise, so don't miss this itinerary as well.
