Ok, Let's go Escape, our next holiday destination hotspot is WAKATOBI , for whose love love diving and snorkling or scuba diving this is the place so fantastic.

Wakatobi National Park : The underwater paradise that will amaze you, maybe some of us only know Bali as an Indonesia most favorite tourism spot, but they don’t know you where is the Indonesia most beautiful underwater paradise is? The most beautiful underwater paradise in Indonesia known as the Wakatobi National Park. Wakatobi  is located in Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Wakatobi is the capital of Wangi-Wangi.  

Wakatobi consists of four major islands, namely Wangiwangi, Kalidupa, Tomia, and Binongko. So, Wakatobi is an acronym for the name of the four main islands which are Wa – Ka – To – Bi. Prior to December 18, 2003, these islands are called  Tukang Besi (Iron Founder) Islands and is still a part of Buton. Astronomically, Wakatobi located south of the equator, and like other regions in Indonesia, Wakatobi has two seasons, rainy and dry seasons. Wakatobi National Park established in 1996, with a total area of ​​1.39 million hectares, involving marine biodiversity and coral which occupies one of the highest priority position of marine conservation in Indonesia.

The richness and beauty of the Wakatobi National Park is already well known abroad, especially after Wallacea expedition from England in 1995 which mentions that the region of Southeast Sulawesi is very rich in coral species. At Wakatobi, they found about  750 of the total 850 species of coral in the world. Configuring the depth varies from flat to sloping to the sea, and in some areas there are deep steep, the deepest waters reaching 1044 meters.

 

 Wakatobi National Park is also a point of some kind of sea birds such as Angsa-Batu Coklat (Sula leucogaster plotus), Cerek Melayu (Charadrius peronii) and Raja Udang Erasia (Alcedo atthis) nested. Several species of turtles also make this park their home as penyu sisik (Eretmochelys imbricata), penyu tempayan (Caretta caretta), and penyu lekang (Lepidochelys olivacea).

Wakatobi waters have loyal guests who make Wakatobi waters as a playground, a guest was none other than the sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus). Normally, sperm whales are in Wakatobi around November, while the other hemisphere freezes. In the relatively warmer waters of Wakatobi and abundant feed the whales could be filling the stomach. Beside the sperm whales Wakatobi is also a place for Manta rays (Manta ray) were classified as giant body size. Manta is one of the distinctive and unique fish, which is only found in tropical waters.

Before entering the Wakatobi National Park, travelers need to report or contact your local national park to obtain the necessary permits and information.

Wakatobi National Park Authority's office located at Jalan Dayanu Ikhsanudin 71, Bau-Bau, Southeast Sulawesi. Travelers can contact the clerk's office by phone at 62-402-2825652 or send electronic mail to the address tn_wakatobi@yahoo.com.

Because coral reefs are protected place so travelers are prohibited from standing or walking on coral and other marine life. Corals and shellfish also should not be taken out of the park, except special permission from the Head of Wakatobi National Park Authority.

How to get there” Wakatobi”, you can choose to use a ship or aircraft. Using ships are cheaper, but takes a long time, from Makassar to Wakatobi alone takes more than 10 hours. So, put on planes is a more precise.

Currently, flights to Wangi-scented, Wakatobi's capital, is available every day. Water Express airline, the flights from Makassar to Wangi-scented once a day, departing from Makassar approximately at 8:00 pm.
